A multigenerational infrastructure business delivering advanced FRP solutions

Wagners Composite Fibre Technologies (CFT) is part of the Wagners Group, a privately owned, multi-generational infrastructure business founded by the Wagner family in Australia.  For decades, the Wagner family has built and operated companies supplying essential construction materials and infrastructure solutions across global markets. This long-term ownership model has shaped a business culture grounded in engineering integrity, innovation, and commitment to performance over generations – not just projects.  Today, Wagners CFT applies that same philosophy to the manufacture of Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) electrical infrastructure solutions, supporting utilities and network operators worldwide.

Originally established as a construction materials company, the Wagners Group expanded into advanced composite manufacturing to address emerging infrastructure challenges including durability, corrosion, asset longevity, and whole-of-life cost performance. This evolution led to the development of structural FRP utility poles, crossarms, and lighting columns, engineered specifically for critical infrastructure applications. By combining traditional infrastructure experience with modern composite technology, Wagners CFT bridges the gap between practical field knowledge and advanced materials engineering.

Electricity networks are long-life assets. They require materials that can perform reliably for decades under environmental stress. As an ASX listed public company, with multi-generational leadership through the founding family (Wagner family) who still hold a significant stake in the company, Wagners takes a long-term view of infrastructure performance. Our FRP solutions are designed with:

  • 80-year design life principles
  • Corrosion resistance for coastal and industrial environments
  • Electrical insulation properties
  • Reduced maintenance requirements
  • Lifecycle environmental transparency, including a third-party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

This long-term approach aligns closely with the needs of European transmission and distribution network operators.

One of the clearest demonstrations of the Wagner family’s capability is the Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport in Queensland, Australia; a fully operational commercial airport designed, funded and built by Wagners.  Delivered in just 18 months, the airport is now a critical regional aviation and freight hub, supporting passenger travel, logistics and defence operations.  This project reflects the Wagner Group’s ability to plan, invest in and deliver complex infrastructure at scale, supported by vertically integrated materials manufacturing and engineering capability.  Alongside these capabilities, Wagners CFT manufactures structural FRP profiles at commercial scale, supplying electrical infrastructure products to projects across Australia, New Zealand, North America, the Middle East and Europe.
